Fertilizer Runoff Responsible for Green Water in China
July 25, 2011

The National Geographic recently reported that nearly 7,000 square miles of the Yellow Sea near China has been taken over by massive algae blooms. The problem has been linked to fertilizer runoff, which can find its way to the ocean when it rains or storms. Too much algae in the ocean can be harmful because it consumes oxygen, which is vital to marine life.
