A Day of Fun and Learning at the Waikiki Aquarium
September 17, 2011
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Storm Water Management Program
shared a fun filled day encouraging our island's keiki to read and learn more
about the importance of our ocean. More than 1,400 visitors enjoyed the 2nd
Annual Ocean Literacy Day featuring a mermaid, celebrity storytellers, and
the Royal Hawaiian Band!
Keiki who visited the Storm Water booth got a chance to spin our prize wheel and test their storm water knowledge. Our storm water model attracted a lot of visitors, demonstrating how rain water runs off roads into storm drains and ultimately into the ocean. Parents and other visiting adults were invited to fill out a survey that measured their awareness about Hawaii's storm drain system.
