Storm Water Hawaii Celebrates Winners of Environmental Writing Contest
July 31, 2010
The Storm Water Management Program (SWMP) team recently partnered with the Hawaii Conservation Alliance to honor winners of the 2010 My Hawaii Story Project, a statewide outreach program for budding young writers.
The winning authors, who wrote stories, poems and essays about Hawaii’s natural resources and the challenges faced in conserving them, were recognized at the Hawaii Conservation Fair, hosted by ING Direct. The SWMP team used its popular 3-D storm water model to educate students, parents and ING Direct customers about the hazards of pollution entering the state’s storm water drain system.
The SWMP team also unveiled its new prize wheel, which featured questions on storm water “Dos and Don’ts.” Students and parents who correctly answered the questions were rewarded with a storm water prize!!
