DOT-HWY’s booth at Kahala Mall’s Keiki Day on Saturday, August 23, was visited by almost 500 people. Families kept the prize wheel spinning and answers flowing as booth volunteers handed out both prizes and storm water knowledge. Also, those who volunteered to participate in a brief survey received a tote bag, which can be used for a variety of shopping needs while also helping to eliminate a common pollutant found in Oahu’s waters, plastic bags. Many kids interacted with SWMP’s storm water model as booth volunteers demonstrated how storm drain inlets lead directly to the ocean. DOT-HWY’s was excited to be apart of the family-fun event, and looks forward to continuing the education on the prevention of storm water pollution in the community.
