As the state’s storm water management program, Storm Water Hawaii has been tasked with educating the public on how to keep our storm drains clear and the importance of protecting our waters. Our team engages people of all ages—including building industry professionals and the general public—by participating in conventions and other public education events, holding workshops for best management practices, hosting an annual Protect Our Water Conference and providing fun and interactive presentations to elementary classes.
To find out what people already know, what they still can learn and how our education program is impacting the state, we administer a public awareness survey online and in person at events. It asks a series of multiple-choice questions to gauge one’s level of storm water knowledge. Once we have the results, we assess them to determine what areas need more attention.
This year, we have partnered with our friends at Ruby Tuesday for a Holiday Giveaway to encourage people to take our survey, helping us to improve our education program and storm water awareness throughout Hawaii. Entering is easy! All you need to do is complete our Public Awareness Survey sometime between now and December 10, 2023, online, and you’ll automatically be entered to win. If you have already completed a survey during a previous event or online, you have been automatically entered to win. On December 11, two winners will be selected by a random number generator and both will receive a $100 gift card to Ruby Tuesday and some Storm Water Hawaii swag!
